Sepilok Nature Resort is against open burning and helps minimize its impact on the environment through the use of biodegradable soap in shower rooms and decomposed materials as fertiliser. 90% of the staffs employed at Sepilok Nature Resort are locals, as part of its initiatives to help the local community. Sepilok Nature Resort also actively promotes Sandakan and Sepilok as world-class destinations to the world; with a strong emphasis on sustainable tourism.

on 01 May 2011 Yes, the resort did appear to have respect for the environment and offered a completely nature based experience right down the visiting monkeys, wonderful birds, mouse deers and flying squirrels! outside our door.

on 23 Aug 2009 grounds beautifully kept with lovely walks...we chose the wrong time unfortunately to appreciate the wild orchid garden -but can imagine how it would look with the flowers in bloom...the lakes and walkways were an early morning and late evening pleasure...
